Chair of the Religious Liberty Summit
Joshua McCaig is a board member of the National Lawyers Association and is the Chair of the Religious Liberty Summit. A graduate of the inaugural class of Ave Maria School of Law in 2003, Joshua is a shareholder at a prominent law firm in Kansas City where he practices health care and intellectual property litigation. Prior to law school, he graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville where he triple majored in theology, philosophy and biology and he pursued graduate studies at Ithaca College, where he obtained a Master’s degree.
Joshua founded and was the first president of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Kansas City. This professional organization of attorneys sponsors the annual Red Mass for the Kansas City metropolitan area, as well as a monthly lecture series on topics concerning law, politics and religion. Joshua was also a founding member of the Junior Board of Catholic Charities in Kansas City and co-chaired the inaugural Soiree at Science City, a fundraiser to benefit children in need. He currently sits on the Catholic Charities Foundation Board and is on the steering committee for the annual Celebration of Hope Gala. Joshua was appointed by the Missouri Bishops to serve as a representative on the Public Policy Committee of the Missouri Catholic Conference where he analyzed legislation and made position statement recommendations to the Missouri Bishops.
With his health care and litigation experience, Joshua works with a variety of organizations on religious liberty related issues, including analyzing the implications of the Affordable Care Act and counseling on potential litigation to defend religious freedom.
Joshua is a parishioner at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Kansas City, Missouri and is a part of the Heart of the Redeemer Covenant Community. He has been married to his wife Catherine for 11 years and has four young children, all of whom are homeschooled. He is a national speaker and has received many awards and acknowledgments, including being selected in 2013 as an Up & Coming Lawyer by Missouri Lawyers Weekly for his professional and civic accomplishments.
